Policy Conditions

A condition is the manifestation of clinical signs that result from the same disease, accident, or diagnosis. It does not matter how many areas of the animal's body are affected by the condition, if the problems occurred from the same incident, then they are considered the same condition.

On a pet insurance policy, conditions are what are considered when deciding whether or not to cover treatment. For example, if a pet has diabetes before becoming insured, than any conditions that result from the diabetes would be considered pre existing conditions, because they resulted from the diabetes that occurred before the policy was in place. Most pet insurance policies do not cover pre existing conditions, and so if a pet has a serious medical problem that will result in multiple conditions, the owner needs to consider that those conditions may not be covered by the pet insurance policy when shopping for pet insurance.
