Deductible

When shopping for pet insurance, the deductible is the amount that you will have to pay on your claim before insurance benefits kick in. The value of deductibles varies from claim to claim. Usually, the higher the deductible, the lower the premiums, and the lower the deductible, the higher the premiums.

When you are shopping for pet insurance, try to strike a balance between affordable premiums and manageable deductibles. Do not be persuaded by extremely low premiums for your pet insurance policy if they are coupled with high deductibles. If the deductibles are too high, you will not benefit from your insurance policy unless your pet becomes seriously ill or requires major surgery. The insurance policy has little benefit for you in a normal pet ownership situation. It is important to be a wise shopper when it comes to comparing the different pet insurance policies available to you and your pet.
