Claim

The claim is a demand sent to the insurance company for payment for medical treatments that a pet received. In order for a claim to be paid by the insurance company, the medical treatments must be compliant wit the insurance policy. Claims that are not in compliance with the insurance policy agreement will be denied, and the payment will become the responsibility of the pet owner.

Most of the time, the veterinary office will mail in the claim form to the insurance company. If a claim is denied, the pet owner should double check the claim form to make sure that the veterinarian's office filled in the form completely and correctly. They should also check to make sure that the services billed were the actual services performed by the veterinarian. It is easy to make mistakes when filling out claim forms, so double checking is the key to making sure that a claim gets paid.
