Chronic Condition

Chronic conditions are medical conditions that a pet develops that are considered incurable. While some chronic conditions are eventually cured, the likelihood is that the care for the chronic condition will continue throughout your pet's life. A chronic condition is not necessarily fatal, but it can result in many medical bills on the part of the pet owner. Diabetes would be an example of a chronic condition.

When shopping for pet insurance, you need to keep in mind that most pet insurances will not cover chronic conditions that are pre-existing. If your pet has a pre-existing chronic condition, you may find it difficult to be approved for pet insurance at an affordable rate. It is important to get health insurance for your pet before they develop any chronic conditions, so you will have coverage for them if they occur, saving yourself hundreds of dollars on veterinary care for your pet.
