Accident An accident refers to a sudden event that causes harm or injury to your pet. An accident is unexpected, and happens externally. Most pet insurance policies offer coverage for the harm or damage caused by accidents to your pet. The most common type of accident that occurs with pets is car accidents. Pets that are left unattended in yards have a tendency to get in the way of moving cars or other vehicles. Your pet could easily be killed by being hit by a car. Keep your pet safe from car accidents by keeping him or her confined safely in your yard. Things that are not considered accidents would be damage caused to your pet by ingesting a harmful substance, or being involved in a fight. Ingesting a harmful substance creates damage that occurs inside the animal's body, which does not fall under the definition of an accident. Injury caused by a fight would fall under fighting injury coverage clauses. More Glossary Terms Explained here |
